UCLA IT Services – Network Services will be performing a code upgrade on the Campus Backbone Network (CBN) Border router at Anderson on Sunday, May 17th, 2020, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. No outage is expected as the network traffic will be re-routed to redundant paths.
On May 17, 2020, at 6:00 a.m., IT Services will be performing a code update to the Enterprise Data Warehouse Services (EDWS). The update will reduce downstream sync issues that have been prevalent the last few weeks.
On Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 6:00 p.m., IT Services will be performing maintenance on Campus Wireless VoIP phones to use the new RADIUS authentication servers. A brief service interruption for new connections on wireless VoIP phones could be expected during the maintenance window. We expect the update to be completed within two hours.
Some users may be having issues sending messages out from lists.ucla.edu mailing lists.
5/14, 1:15 p.m. -- Google support has notified us that the “maximum number of external recipients all groups in [lists.ucla.edu] can send to” has been increased and we should no longer be receiving the bounceback message.
IT Services -- Network Services will be performing a firmware upgrade on Campus L2TP VPN devices on Sunday, May 31, 2020, from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. During this maintenance, Campus L2TP VPN users may experience intermittent connectivity and may need to reconnect to the L2TP VPN. This is an effort to stabilize the Campus L2TP VPN devices for providing uninterrupted service. Note that Campus VPN users using the SSL VPN protocol (Cisco AnyConnect) will not be affected.
On Sunday, May 3, from 12 a.m. – 12:15 a.m., IT Services will be performing maintenance on our Duo service (Multi-factor Authentication) to allow the WebAuthN feature to be enabled at a future date. The maintenance window’s expected to last 15 minutes.
On Sunday, May 10, from 12 a.m. to 3 a.m., IT Services will be upgrading software on the Data Center firewall appliances. The upgrade is required to fix a software bug which results in a memory leak. This memory leak caused the firewall appliances to failover on 3/26/20 and resulted in an outage. We'll be upgrading the code on one firewall at a time. No outage is expected as traffic will be rerouted through redundant firewalls. There's a potential brief connection timeout while the traffic is being rerouted.
Users may be experiencing issues connecting to Campus VPN via the L2TP protocol.

On Sunday, April 19, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., IT Services will be moving the IT Services VPN (its.ssl.vpn.ucla.edu) and Vendor VPN (vendor.ssl.vpn.ucla.edu) to a pair of new dedicated VPN appliances. The migration is transparent to the end-user, as the ITS and Vendor VPN IP pools and everything else will remain the same.

The IAMUCLA support team will be upgrading the Enterprise Directory (LDAP) server software on Friday April 24, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. The upgrade should be finished before 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25.
