Security Tips for Tax Season

Phishing and other scam-related incidents spiked nearly 400% during last year’s tax season. This year, please be cautious of messages asking for tax or W-2 information, even if they seem authentic. Julie Goldstein, UCOP’s Cyber-Risk IT Security Analyst, offers some helpful advice on the UC IT Blog for safely navigating the coming tax season.

Remember:

  • Don’t follow any links to view your W-2—access it directly from the UC At Your Service or the UCPath website.
  • Verify any requests for tax information by looking up the requestor’s phone number and calling them.
