CIO Message | March 2024

Dear Colleagues:

To uphold my commitment ensuring that all our academic, administrative, and research partners throughout UCLA have full visibility into our ITS Program Portfolio, I’d like to share the IT Executive Dashboard and a few notable highlights.

  • The HR IT Systems Optimization (HRITSO) program went live with JDXpert, the new position description system, and iCIMS, the new applicant tracking system, on March 12 and 26, respectively. Both systems are replacing the current PeopleAdmin system with modern, user-friendly HR solutions.
  • The Ascend 2.0 team has advanced to the final stage of system development and has commenced System Integration Testing (SIT) for the new Bruin Finance solution, in collaboration with partners across campus.
  • A BruinPost will be sent to campus to announce the launch of UCLA’s Generative AI site, a resource for the campus community aimed to provide guidance on ethical and secure uses for AI tools. The hub also includes essential guiding principles, available solutions for campus use, user guides and FAQs.
  • After continued delays from the Department of Education, the FACET Program loaded close to 65,000 Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) in preparation for the '24-'25 financial aid process and will continue to test, match and load records into mainframe production in the coming weeks.
  • A Google Workspace Service Adjustment communication was sent to UCLA alumni on March 5, following a BruinPost sent to the campus community on February 27, highlighting important details including containment quotas implemented on March 7.
  • The Security Transformation program is revitalizing the deployment of Trellix — a modern endpoint protection platform combining traditional anti-virus with advanced real-time indicator detection and prevention — in support of the UC Office of the President’s IS-3 policy and the UCLA Threat Detection and Identification (TDI) initiative.
  • The Network Unification team completed a discovery exercise to understand the current state of all campus networks and will share findings and next steps in the coming weeks with our distributed IT leaders.

I look forward to sharing more of our progress with you next month.

Best regards,
