CIO Message | November 2023

Dear Colleagues:

As part of our monthly communication cadence, please find the latest IT Executive Dashboard, along with key highlights for this month.

  • The Ascend team is set to transition from our current procurement system to Bruin Buy Plus starting December 14, with the go-live on January 2. To ensure a smooth adoption, comprehensive training is in progress, and post-launch support plans are in place.
  • The Google Workspace Service Adjustment team is poised to begin outreach about the new containment ceilings, effective December 15, to prepare the campus community for the first phase of this transition.
  • Bruin Voice successfully completed the deployment of the Zoom softphones. IT Services is scheduled to start the distribution of Zoom physical phones in January 2024.
  • BruinPost was sent out to announce the launch of FACET. Mainframe updates are progressing as planned, in line with Department of Education (DOE) guidelines for the ’24-‘25 financial aid year. In parallel, the configuration of Oracle Student Financial Planning continues in preparation for the following financial aid cycle.
  • The first phase of the HR IT Systems Optimization program is on course for a December 7 go-live for the Bruin CHR Service Center (previously referred to as ServiceNow HRSD). This new system will replace the salary and compensation action requests currently housed in PeopleAdmin as well as the current services managed in the HR & Payroll Center Ticketing System.
  • The Administrative IT units reporting to the Administrative Vice Chancellor formally transitioned to IT Services on November 1 as part of our Reimagine IT: Talent initiative.

Your continued support and collaboration are invaluable, as IT Services maintains its ongoing commitment to technological advancement and service excellence of the university.

Best regards,

Lucy Avetisyan
