CIO Message | September 2022

Dear Colleagues,

As we prepare for the fall term, I am happy to share the IT Executive Dashboard with you once again. I have committed to providing you with an update of our project portfolio the third week of each month, ensuring you are well informed about the projects we have underway.

In addition to our dashboard, I’ve included a few notable highlights below.

  • The LMS Transformation program welcomed Center of Excellence Director Ilana Intonato on September 6th to further build out the team and a broad range of community-wide support for Bruin Learn. 
  • ASCEND is finalizing the Jaggaer timeline—to be known as Bruin Buy +. The phased approach will involve two releases: (1) implementation with our mainframe system and existing chart of accounts and (2) implementation with Oracle and new common chart of accounts.
  • FACET Executive Sponsors approved the recommendation to extend the timeline due to project progress, the need to fully understand financial aid requirements across campus and the maturity of the Oracle Student Financial Planning (SFP) product. The team will go through a re-planning exercise over the next 1-2 months with a relaunch scheduled shortly after that.
  • The Security Transformation program will kick off Bruin Secure to Inform, Instruct, and Enable UCLA to protect our data and assets from a security perspective. The effort will begin in October in alignment with cybersecurity month.
  • Customer Experience will launch a CX Assessment—including a campuswide survey, interviews and focus groups—to identify opportunities to improve internal efficiencies and service delivered to students, faculty, and staff.

As part of our ongoing effort to keep an active dialog with each initiative, we’ve created a POPin for each of our active projects on our Key Initiatives page. This is our first step to ensure we always provide an opportunity for you to weigh in. We are continuing to refine our processes and truly value the feedback you provide.
