MATLAB Software Licensing

Please Read Before Purchasing Your New MATLAB Software License for the Fall Quarter

Office of the Administrative Vice Chancellor

Office of Information Technology

To the Campus Community:

IF YOU PLAN TO PURCHASE A NEW MATLAB SOFTWARE LICENSE FOR YOUR ACADEMIC WORK, PLEASE WAIT. CONSIDER ENGAGING IN A FREE 30-DAY TRIAL INSTEAD. UCLA IS WORKING ON GETTING A CAMPUSWIDE SOFTWARE LICENSE IN PLACE WITHIN 30-DAYS.

FOR STUDENTS ONLY: THE PLAN IS TO MAKE THE MATLAB LICENSE AVAILABLE AT NO COST.

UCLA has engaged with Mathworks to pilot a campuswide MATLAB license, an industry standard software application used for data analysis, modeling, and algorithm development.

As the agreement will be finalized in the next few weeks, we recommend the following:

  1. Students, if you have already purchased a MATLAB software license in September, please keep your receipt as UCLA intends to reimburse this expense.
  2. If you need access to the MATLAB software immediately, please consider engaging in their 30-day trial offer instead of purchasing the license. (MATLAB Trial License)

NOTE: You are responsible for cancelling your trial software offering. If you miss the trial cancellation deadline, you will incur the cost of the software license and UCLA will not be able to reimburse you.

NOTE: In the event UCLA does not enter the campuswide agreement this quarter, please expect further instructions so you can act before the end of the 30-day trial period.

For questions, please contact UCLA Software Central at SoftwareCentral@ucla.edu.
