Mainframe Systems

Mainframe Systems provides systems programming, storage, production support, job scheduling, access services and mainframe disaster recovery for business, student and other enterprise applications.

  • Systems Programming and Storage Management responsibilities include: hardware configuration; installation and support for all non-application software such as the operating system, transaction server and database server; performance and capacity planning; storage admin and backup; disaster recovery.
  • Production Support responsibilities include: administration of the mainframe Application Life Cycle processes and environments; management of the Report Distribution System for online access to campus enterprise application reports.
  • Job Scheduling responsibilities include: administration and technical support for production batch scheduling on both mainframe and distributed platforms; administration of department Managed File Transfer user accounts and processes.
  • Access Services responsibilities include: administration of mainframe security access for campus enterprise applications, primarily by the processing of SARs (System Access Requests) and admin support of DACSS (UCLA developed security application: Distributed Access Control Security System).
