How do I activate UCLA Multi-Factor Authentication on a cell phone?

The following step-by-step instructions detail how to activate UCLA Logon Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using the following device: cellular phone.

  1. Using a web browser, visit https://accounts.iam.ucla.edu/mfa.
  2. Log into the application using your UCLA Logon ID and password.


     
  3. At the "About MFA in UCLA Logon" window, click on the [CONTINUE] button.

        
  4. At the "Link a Device:" window, select Cellular Phone.

  5. At the "Link Cellular Phone" window, enter a memorable label for your phone and your cell phone's phone number.


     
    • A - Confirm the addition of your cell phone via SMS or text message
      You will receive an SMS message from Duo.  Enter the six-digit code you received into the box, then click the [CONTINUE] button.


       
    • B - Confirm the addition of your cell phone via Phone Call
      You will receive a phone call on your cell phone from Duo.  Enter the six-digit code you received into the box, then click the [CONTINUE] button.


       
  6. The cell phone you just added should now be listed under Linked Devices:.
